As part of our Engineer of Record position with Lancaster County, RETTEW was responsible for rehabilitating this historically sensitive iron truss structure to address issues flagged in routine inspection reports. We provided services for roadway and bridge design; performed environmental due diligence; developed erosion and sediment control plans; and provided bid documents, construction administration, and construction inspection services.
RETTEW’s environmental staff provided services for wetlands and bog turtles and prepared a General Permit 11 and Aids to Navigation (ATON) plan. Additionally, we coordinated extensively with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission for this unique iron truss.
As a result of this project, the load posting will be raised, and the bridge will regain original functionality.
